Well, after numerous years of gaming, I think the time has come. From G-Men to G-Men Elite, and the transformation to Deviance have all been fun and energizing. However, I have been tracking the usage of the sites for years and the trend has steadily decreased. Our members have grown older, some still play games, some decided to move on, etc etc.
We have a very powerful CMS running on this site, and it could possibly be used better elsewhere. I am thinking of using this software to make a general discussion site for numerous topics, including gaming. A lot of our members have moved on to other bigger gaming communities due to our lack of hardcore gaming lately. So, this is more of a social club. So, I would do one of two things. I would either make this a different, open-source forum board, or I would simply put a notice and redirect the URL to the new website. Thus letting this domain expire and retiring it.
I figure we have a good group of people who usually stick with us through thick and thin and could definitely appreciate a wider variety of use to this site. A forum that is open to Tech, Fitness and Health, Gaming, Music, and so on. This could attract a lot more users and maximize the potential to this powerful CMS we have been using.
Anyways, those of you who are still around, thank you for the years of dedication.
Oh, and for those who are wondering that pushed this potential decision. We have gone from 100-200 unique visits a day to 1-5. It was solidified when almost a month ago I upgraded a lot of features and no one uses them combined with the lack of response to other topics.
Our ventrilo, currently 10 I think, will still remain active. The information will still be available to friends and will be attached to the new site.
